A bad weekend

By | November 1, 2010

You know those days when your child just isn’t themselves?  They haven’t got a temperature, aren’t sick and physically seem fine, yet you know something isn’t right?  We’ve had one of those weekends.

C has been grumpy, and clingy, and generally a pain all weekend.  It began very early on in the weekend when she woke at 4am Saturday morning in hysterical tears.  After calming her down, only for her to get hysterical again when I tried putting her back to bed, she eventually fell asleep on me until 7ish when hubby got up and I managed to tranfer her to our bed where she then slept until 9.30am.  Needless to say I was pretty much awake from 4am and therefore knackered all day Saturday!

She was quite grumpy for most of the day Saturday but perked up when we took her to a party for our friends 7 year old and seemed to forget her clinginess and went off playing with the older kids.

Thankfully we had a good night with her and due to a late bedtime she slept until 9.30 the following morning.  Sunday was another not-so-great day.  She was napping by 12pm which is unusual these days, she didn’t want any dinner which, again, is unlike her, then she fell asleep on her daddy at 6pm; this she *never* does.

So, after an early night last night she seemed back to her usual happy self this morning.  I’m in work today so she’s at her grandparents and reports are good so far!

I hate it when she’s like that for seemingly no reason.

Are there any tried and tested methods for grumpy toddlers or are lots of cuddles and patience the way to go?

Sounds like you’ve have a hellish weekend. Much sympathy from this end.

I think the only time D was like that when he wasn’t obviously ill was teething. He did seem to suffer with a lot of pain and discomfort before the tooth came through the gum and his sleep would be disturbed as a result.

Hope whatever is causing C grief sorts itself out and that you manage to get some sleep tonight.

Thank you!

We did initially think teething was the culprit but there have been none of the other ‘signs’ that we usually associate with it so we’re a bit baffled!

Maybe the halloween spirits were annoying her! Well… you never know? 😉

It’s horrid when they have days like that. Max has been awful today. Have had to put him to bed early as he’s overtired and very unhappy about it to say the least!

Glad your lil one is back to her normal self again! xx
