Review – My Own Leaptop

By | November 9, 2010

We were recently sent My Own Leaptop by Leapfrog to review. The recommended age for this is 2+ so C is still a bit young but that didn’t stop her having fun with it.  If I’m on my laptop she always wants to help and press buttons so this was a nice way for her to be just like mummy.

She was very excited when she saw the Leaptop and wanted to play with it immediately.  She doesn’t really understand a lot of what it is saying to her but she enjoyed the music section and I was able to join in with the animals part of it.

When she put it down for 5 minutes I plugged it into my laptop & set up the personalisation.  I was very impressed with this bit!  Now, when you switch it on it says ‘Hello C’ and when it’s on the alphabet/phonics section and you press the letter C, the Leaptop informs her that that’s the first letter of her name.  You can also set up personalised e-mails and choose which songs you want it to play.

We’ve had the Leaptop about a month now and she’s still enjoying playing with it almost every day.  I’m sure as she gets older she’ll have even more fun learning and playing.  You can also plug it in to your computer and download what your child has been learning but I haven’t done this yet.

It’s also very robust; C regularly throws drops it on the floor when she’s sorting through her toybox but it hasn’t made the slightest difference to it.  It still looks fine and works perfectly.

But would I buy it?  Yes, with an RRP of £19.99 it’s brilliant value for money and I definitely think C will enjoy playing with this for a long time to come.

Interesting. Sounds as if it will be a toy that lasts the test of time, and for £20 seems good value for money.

Thanks for commenting! Yes, I do think it’s worth the money & I’m hoping it’ll last quite a while yet. It’s looking good so far!

They are really good. And if you’ve got girly girls I think they come in pink too
