So, this potty training thing…

I really didn’t think C was ready for potty training yet.  She isn’t 2 until the end of the month and, although we sit her on the toilet before she has a bath, she just wasn’t interested and nothing ever happened.

Then yesterday afternoon we had a really lazy few hours and let her have some time without a nappy on.  To be honest I expected to be cleaning up little puddles so was massively surprised when she told me she needed the toilet.  Not really expecting a lot I put her little seat on the toilet and sat her on it.  I almost cried when she did a wee!  Really stupid of me but I was so proud of my little girl.  Half an hour later she decided she needed a poo and did one.

So what do I do now?  Shall I have a go at toilet training now that I know she can successfully tell me when she needs to go?  She’s at my parents Mon-Wed every week when I’m at work but I could try her from Thursday and over the weekend to see how it goes.

It’s weird as I’m usually quite laid back about things but this has got me all flustered for some reason.  Maybe it’s because she’s surprised me as I wasn’t expecting her to be at this stage for a few months yet.

Who knows?!  I’m sure it’ll all work out in the end!

Baba started around two and three months he has been doing it a couple of months now. He goes to my parents and MIL’s one day every week and my mum has pulled him along a lot further. With a couple of weeks of going to mums she has moved him onto the toilet and got him standing and washing his hands. He comes back doing something different every week. I didn’t actually go out with Baba at first and just stayed in for a couple of weeks! Good luck and what a clever girl! xx

Yay! Congrats on the first attempts! Sounds like she is totally ready. I’ve been reading Gina Ford’s Potty Training in a Week and she recommends doing just what you have and letting them run around without a nappy. We’re going to start DD when we’ve moved back home and things have settled down a bit. Oh and when the potty turns up in the shipment!
