Slow Cooking with Schwartz and Morphy Richards

By | November 5, 2011

Did you know Schwartz have a new range of recipe mixes, specifically developed for the slow cooker?  No, I didn’t either until I received an e-mail asking if I’d like to try them out.

I was sent a Morphy Richards 3.5L slow cooker, the perfect size for families, along with a selection of Schwartz slow cooker mixes.

So far I’ve only tried one of the mixes – chicken in red wine.  Here’s how it went.

Get all the ingredients ready.

This recipe uses chicken, 125g button mushrooms, 10 shallots, 250g bacon, 2 tbsp tomato puree, 300 ml water and the Schwartz mix.

Simply throw the chicken, mushrooms, shallots and bacon into the slow cooker, mix the Schwartz mix with the water and tomato puree and pour over.

Put the lid on and cook for 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low.

Serve with potatoes and vegetables.

A success!  The meal was really nice and so easy to do.  Slow cooking is great if you’ve got a busy day and don’t want to have to start cooking in the evening.  I was decorating on the day I made this and it was fantastic to just be able to serve it up when we wanted to eat.

Other flavours in the Schwartz slow cooker mixes are sausage and bean casserole, beef and tomato casserole and chicken curry and they have an RRP of 99p.

The Morphy Richards slow cooker is available on their website for £29.99.
