My Kitchen

By | January 17, 2012

If you followed me on twitter before Christmas you’d have heard all about our rather crazy plan to decorate the kitchen and dining room, beginning them both just 3 weeks before Christmas.

It wasn’t just a case of painting them either.  We stripped the dining room down and had it completely re-plastered so had to start from scratch including all new skirting boards and woodwork, new flooring and painting.  In the kitchen we decided to replace the worktops, sink and hob, new tiling, have a new carpet and again, repaint everything.

With a Christmas deadline as well as working 3 days a week, looking after C, attempting to keep the rest of the house in order and the small matter of actually preparing for Christmas, I did actually wonder if we’d perhaps been a little optimistic with our deadline but with a little hard work we actually managed it.

There are still little bits we need to do like a new light and a chalkboard but it’s virtually done and I love it.

My favourite bit is my new hob.  It’s a wonderful, sparkly touch screen hob from Appliances Online which was a fab price and delivered for free within a few days (ideal when you set yourself a silly deadline!).  It’s actually a pleasure to cook in my kitchen now, especially after living with a hob where only 2 of the rings worked properly for the last two years!

All of this decorating means that, after living here for two years, we’re down to just one remaining room to renovate – the spare room.  This is just a big rectangle with a window so that’s my target for February.

Of course, then we have to start all over again!

This post is sponsored, but I hope you enjoyed reading about my decorating antics anyway

Wow! That is very well organised and lovely results.

Is that an induction or a ceramic hob? We’ve got an induction and I absolutely love it.
