I Dream of Spring

By | February 27, 2012

Outside my window, right now, the skies are blue, the sun is shining and the birds are singing.  Could it be the beginning of spring?

I’m getting ridiculously excited at the prospect of warmer weather.  I can’t wait to get in the garden and sort the greenhouses out.  I also have my rather lovely raised bed on the corner of the patio that I’ve got to decide what to grow in it.  I’m thinking a few strawberry plants but need more than that.  Any ideas?

I’m planning on growing tomatoes and chillies in the greenhouses again, possibly courgettes but I’m not bothering with aubergines or sweet pepper this year.  I’ve also got some tomato seeds ready for tumbling tomatoes for the hanging baskets.

I want to grow other things but I’m lacking in inspiration at the moment. I need things that will grow well in pots, either outside or in the greenhouse, as I haven’t got a proper place to plant things in the ground yet.

What are you growing this year?  Come on, inspire me!

I too, cannot wait for spring. We’ve had a lot of luck growing potatoes in pots, we just used old ones that had gone to seed in the cupboard and they’ve always been delicious. We grew runner beans last year too and they tasted amazing.

I’ve never tried potatoes or beans. Didn’t think of doing potatoes in pots actually. The husband wants to grow peas this year – bet they never make it into the house before they’re eaten though!

I hadn’t thought about what to grow yet. I will definitely be doing more in the garden this year. Last year we had hardly any nice days in Scotland. I’m going for some herbs x

I usually do a few herbs on the kitchen windowsill but might have some pots outside this year too.
