Diono Monterey2 Car Seat: A review

By | September 3, 2013

We were sent the Diono Monterey2 booster seat in the shadow colourway to review.  Diono wasn’t a brand I was familiar with but they’ve actually been around since 1999 in the US and since 2002 in the UK and have featured in Mother and Baby, and Practical Parenting & Pregnancy magazines.

The car seat was super simple to set up and fit.  The seat bottom simply slid and clicked into position then you can adjust the height of the headrest as well as the width of the backrest to fit your child properly.  Being a booster seat, it simply sits on the car seat and is secured with the seat belt around the child.  There are red guides on the sides of the seat to show you were the seat belt should be positioned.  The seat can also be secured using isofast connectors, though we haven’t tried these yet.

C really liked her new car seat and said it was comfortable.  I thought it looked really well padded and liked the way it adjusted widthways as well as being height adjustable.  I also like how the head support is shaped and meant C stayed put if she fell asleep in the seat.  The cup holders are nice and deep too, unlike some other seats we’ve tried, meaning drinks are less likely to get spilt.

The Monterey2 will fit C from now, aged 4, until secondary school meaning it’s great value for money.  The cover can also be removed and hand washed if needed.  A machine washable cover would be a slight improvement but hand wash only is perfectly manageable.

Overall we really like the Monterey2 booster seat and I’d definitely recommend it.  We’ve tried a few booster seats but this is definitely the best we’ve had.  Overall we’ll give this 9 out of 10.
